Some versions of Android


1. Android 1.0 Apple Pie


This is the first version of Android, but not released commercially. This version comes first time in October 2008. The first smartphone that uses Android is HTC.

2. Android 1.1 Banana Bread

This is a Beta version, and not released commercially as well.

3. Android 1.5 Cupcake

This is the first android version released to the public in April 2009. This version is the first release version is official and the name of the dessert.

4. Android 1.6 Donut

Donut release in September 2009 along with a variety of updates and new features than previous versions of android, namely Cupcake.

5.Android 2.0 / 2.1 Éclair

Released in October 2009 and named Eclair. In this version has support Bluetooth version 2.1, camera with new features including a flash, digital zoom, scene modes, and others.

6. Android 2.2 Froyo (Frozen Yogurt)

Froyo release in May 2010. This version brings a lot of changes from the previous version, eclair, support Adobe Flash plyer, and also comes with support SDcard which allows for the storage media applications.

7. Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Gingerbread was first introduced in December 2010. Gingerbread has many changes compared to its predecessor because it is designed to optimize the games and applications you run. Gingerbread also supports WXGA screen and NFC connectivity which allows the smartphone as a means of payment.

8. Android 3.0 Honeycomb

Honeycomb release in February 2011 and is devoted to the tablet pc. First device that appears with android Honeycomb is the Motorola Xoom. Honeycomb also equipped with a status bar display that is easier to be customized.

9. Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)

ICS release in October 2011. ICS comes with a very modern look and is easier to use. Devices which first brought the ICS is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is equipped with a 720p screen.

10. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The next version of Jelly Bean was released in July 2012. At JB equipped renewal of the functions and performance of the UI (user interface), improved keyboard input and Google Now can work with voice commands.

11. Android 4.4 Kitkat

Kitkat first appeared in October 2013 along with LG Nexus 5. Kitkat experience a change in the status bar UI and transparent and can run optimally on gadgets with low specifications.

12. Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android Lollipop released in October 2014 exactly one year after Kitkat and code-named Android L. view and status bar UI increasingly attractive given to Lollipop. In this Lollipop also has changed its previous platform using Dalvik become ART (android runtime) are useful to optimize performance and improve battery life.

13. Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Marshmallow is the latest version of android today and present the first time in May 2015 and code-named Android M. Marshmallow focused to improve the user experience of Lollipop, introduce new permissions architecture, new power management that allows to reduce background activity when the smartphone is used which affects the battery life.
